ON THE STABILIZATION OF THE BALLAST BED

EIN BEITRAG ZUR STABILISIERUNG DES SCHOTTERBETTES

An investigation was made, as part of a dissertation, into whether the addition of smaller-size ballast increases the deformation resistance of the ballast bed. Greatest success and reduced maintenance costs appear to be promised by adding 15 percent smaller ballast to the grade 1 size.
