STANDARD BRIDGES - PUBLICITY BROCHURE
Standard bridges, designed to carry standard highway loading, ie the more severe effects of either type ha, or type ha combined with either 30 or 45 units of type hb loading, as appropriate, have been developed for several proven forms of construction. The commonly occuring spans, widths and skews have been standardized. A range of standard underbridges and overbridges is provided to enable single carriageway side roads to cross under or over dual 3-lane motorways or dual 2-lane all purpose roads comprising: non-composite in-situ reinforced concrete decks; composite M and U beam decks (for overbridges only); composite inverted t beam decks; composite steel/concrete decks (for overbridges only). Permissible spans and widths are shown, limits of other bridge parameters are indicated. The brochure presents the general outline for standard bridges but full technical details for using the standard designs are provided in separate documents: standard bridges manual parts 1 and 2 and other documents listed in the brochure. The use of standard bridges outside the United Kingdom is restricted to licence holders. (TRRL)
