AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLED UNLOADERS FOR SEAGOING VESSELS
SEESCHIFFSENTLADER MIT AUTOMATISCHER STEUERUNG
Ships' unloaders have to handle goods at a steady increasing rate. As this involves higher speeds for the individual drives, semi-automatic control systems are being used more and more in order to relieve the crane drivers. The author describes the various electrical components involved by reference to two plants of this type already supplied. An essential condition for automatic operation is effective damping of the grab's tendency to swing. The article illustrates a new method for automatic compensation of this pendulum action.
