MODEL 101 COMPUTERS MONITOR MACHINERY ON SHIPS
Siemens model 101 computers have been installed on four tankers for monitoring machine operations. A modified version of the MV 200 data logger incorporating SIMATIC modules performs the peripheral functions. An engine log and fault log are printed out on two typwriters, and the manoeuver log on a strip printer. Measurements and limits are displayed on four digit indicators with decade selector keyboards. Alarms are transmitted to a fault signalling system. In addition to counting the operating hours and fuel quantities, the computer also calculates the specific fuel consumption.
