FATIGUE TESTS ON FILLET WELDED JOINTS IN BENDING
Fatigue tests have been carried out, under constant amplitude loading, on four test series with longitudinal fillet welds and three series with transverse fillet welds. The tests on longitudinal welds involved two plate thicknesses (13 and 25mm) and two stress ratios (r = 0 and R = -1). In the case of the transverse welds all tests were at r = 0 and the main variables were the main plate and attachment thicknesses. The results for the longitudinal welds showed no effect of plate thickness but a large stress ratio effect, while the results for the transverse welds were affected both by plate thickness and attachment size.
