A4 SUBWAY STUDY
This report covers a study of the use of four pedestrian subways along a stretch of the Great West Road between the Hogarth roundabout and the elevated section of the M4. On-site and home interviews, and background research, are described in detail. The head count was carried out over a 12-hour period on the same day, September 30, 1980, at all locations. It showed that overall usage had not greatly changed since the last survey in 1978. There was however, a marked increase in the number of school children using the subways, which served to offset a decrease in use by adults. (TRRL)
