THE CONTINUOUS DISCHARGE OF BULK CARGOES

This paper describes the various types of bulk cargo unloading equipment presently available, both shipborne and shoreside, and discusses the operational restrictions of some of these units. The author discusses problems of unloading, including the roles that tides at the unloading dock play, the mass of both shipborne and shoreside equipment, the bucket chain velocity, and others. System capacities which should be realized in order for the systems to be economically viable are also discussed.
