EFFECTS OF BANS ON HEAVY LORRIES IN LONDON: IMPACTS ON MANUFACTURING AND SERVICE INDUSTRY
The effects of a ban on commercial vehicles with gross vehicle weights exceeding 16 tons and 24 tons was investigated on a representative sample of 38 manufacturing and service firms from the inner and outer London areas of South Shoreditch and Brimsdown. In a more detailed analysis of 3 firms, a 16 ton ban would result in increased operation costs if they were to maintain services while 2 firms would incur increased costs with the 24 ton ban. The effects of a night time ban would depend on its duration but none would be affected by a weekend ban.
