Optimization Analysis of Urban Road Intersection Based on VISSIM Simulation
As car ownership increases, so does urban traffic congestion, which results in the decline of road capacity and increased traffic safety risks. As an important part of the road system, urban road intersections can block the effective operation of traffic in the event of congestion. Therefore, to renovate the intersection is one of the effective means to improve the traffic capacity and safety of the road. This paper takes Cuihua Road and Yucai Road intersection in Yanta District of Xi’an as the object of study and uses VISSIM, a traffic simulation software, to investigate the current situation of traffic volume and signal timing. Then this paper studies the optimal timing scheme and lane layout of the intersection, and evaluate the scheme. The results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the delay time and queue length significantly, which greatly improves the comprehensive transportation capacity of urban roads.
