Several Key Issues on Operation Management of Urban Rail Transit under UTO Mode
Presently, the UTO (unattended train operation) has been adopted in several urban rail transit systems around the world. Thanks to UTO, urban rail transit becomes safer and more efficient, along with the reduction of on-board staff members and cost in operation. However, the adoption of UTO also requires a high reliability on linked devices and operation organization. Based on comparisons among different modes of driving and their characteristics and combined with the analysis on the usage of UTO, this paper discusses several scenarios under the UTO mode as well as functions of the operation control center (OCC), critical issues of train operation organization, and passenger service schemes in normal, abnormal, and emergency situations.
