THE STUDY OF ROAD ACCIDENTS IN BLACK URBAN TOWNSHIPS - 1979
'N ONTLEDING VAN MOTORONGELUKKE IN SOMMIGE SWART WOONBUURTE - 1979
Very little is known about road accident patterns in black urban townships. To fill this gap in the present accident reporting process, a black technical officer was appointed to collect all relevant accident data at the police stations in a few of these townships. Results were summarised on a six- and twelve-monthly basis. These summaries show that there are important differences between the accident particulars as reported in black and white urban areas or the republic of South Africa as a whole. It can be concluded that law enforcement in these black urban areas must be adapted to the difference in travel pattern. (Author/TRRL)
