DMV (DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLE) MOTOR VEHICLE STATISTICS, 1978 ACCIDENT AND OPERATIONAL STATISTICAL DATA

New York motor vehicle statistics are presented, including those for traffic accidents and operational activities. New material includes a county breakdown and a monthly breakdown of fatalities in 1977 and 1978, holiday fatality data for 1969-78, and drivers' licenses in force by county of residence for 1978. Data are tabulated and graphically illustrated on death and injury accident rates, the age and sex distribution of persons killed or injured, the seriousness of injury, the manner of collision in two-vehicle accidents, preaccident vehicle action and the location of collisions, drivers involved in accidents, road and weather factors, accident by hour of day and day of week, accident involvement by motor vehicle type, pedestrian accidents, motorcycle-moped accidents and bicycle accidents. Consideration is also given to motor vehicle registrations and driver's licenses, convictions, suspensions and revocations, activities concerning vehicle and driver safety, vehicle regulation investigation and audit, and hearing and adjudication, as well as motorboat and snowmobile registrations. A 10-year accident summary covering 1969-1978 is included.
