WATERCRAFT/SCHAT SURVIVAL SYSTEM FOR OFFSHORE OIL RIG INSTALLATIONS
A survival craft for use on offshore oil rig installations is described. These craft are completely enclosed, with both hull and canopy constructed of glassfibre with fire resistant additives in the resin mixture. The boat is self-righting, has a water-cooled diesel engine giving a maximum speed of six knots, and also has a compressed air supply. Results of fire resistance tests, the launching system, and the operation of the entire system are all given and explained in the article.
