THE MEASUREMENT OF THERMAL CHARACTERISTICS IN BOILER FURNACE
The power-up and compactness tendencies of marine steam power plants have led to a great increase in the heat release rate of boiler furnaces, which may cause serious problems such as the applicable limit of thermal design methods in the boiler furnace. At at higher heat release rate, it is required to consider how to avoid local over-heat of cooling walls, with making clear the flow pattern and the distribution of gas temperature in the furnace and with locating the burners appropriately. In this paper, the flow pattern, the temperature distribution, the heat flux of cooling walls, the furnace outlet temperature are measured in order to determine the characteristics in the furnace, and then are put to use for designing boilers of higher heat release rate.
