SOPHISTICATED MAINTENANCE PLANT FOR MITSUI ENGINE
A very sophisticated maintenance plant for a diesel propulsion plant, which includes caged inlet and exhaust valves, rapid release manifold flanges and cylinder bonnet covers that hinge open, is described. This maintenance plant has a special mechanised apparatus for removing and replacing pistons and transporting them to and from the overhaul shop. Using this apparatus, two pistons can be replaced in only two man hours. The procedure for removing pistons is fully described, and procedures for inspecting other machinery elements are also explained.
