SBM TAKES TYPHOON PUNCH
An Imodco terminal off the coast of Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has survived three typhoons in its first year of operation, one registering a velocity of 130 knots. In 13 months the terminal has been used by 43 tankers to discharge almost 24 million bbl of crude oil. Anchored in water 68 ft deep, the terminal is designed to withstand 58 ft breaking waves which occur at this location.
