FIRST TERMINAL SLATED OFF ARGENTINA
Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales (Argentine) (YFP) will build the country's first offshore crude-oil tanker terminal near San Antone Oeste in the Gulf of San Matias under a new joint venture with Bechtel Corp. and Victor M. Contreras S.A. A new company, Transpet Transportadora de Hidrocarburos S.A., is being formed for the project, with YPF holding a 62.5% interest. Set for completion at the end of 1970, the project calls for twin docking buoys to be situated about 12 mi offshore and capable of handling tankers up to 70,000 dwt. Onshore storage will amount to about 1.2 million bbl.
