THE USE OF REFLECTIVE TAGS. RESULTS FROM THREE SURVEYS DURING 1979-1981

The use of reflective tags was examined in a survey where 500 pedestrians participated. Results show that 37 percent always wore reflective tags on unlit roads/streets in 1979. The percentages for 1980 and 1981 were 29 and 28 respectively. The percentage of pedestrians who never wore reflective tags was 38 in 1979, 41 in 1980 and 37 in 1981. Women used reflective tags more often than men. People aged between 25 and 69 used reflective tags more often than people aged between 15-24. Reflective tags are used more often in villages and sparsely built-up areas than in the cities. On lightened roads/streets 28 percent of the pedestrians always wore reflective tags in 1979. The percentages for 1980 and 1981 were 21 and 23 respectively. The percentage for those who never wore reflective tags on lightened roads/streets was 47 in 1979, 48 in 1980 and 46 in 1981. (TRRL)
