RUBBER HOSE IS VITAL LINK IN TANKER HANDLING
To keep pace with the demands of faster flowrates (20,000 tons/hr) in loading and unloading tanker hose manufacturers are developing stronger and larger-diameter hose: 24 in. dia in 1968, 30 in. dia lines in 1969, and very soon a 42 in. dia hose is expected to be offered. These hoses, especially when intended for use in single-buoy mooring systems, are float-assisted or self-floating. Some problems associated with the introduction of these larger-diameter hoses are discussed.
