CFRP-FOR-STEEL SUBSTITUTION IN A CAR REAR AXLE
This article describes a lightweight axle made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), which was designed as a replacement for the existing steel axle currently used in a production car. A 27 percent weight reduction was achieved with the new design without any overall dimensional changes.
