IMPROVEMENTS ACHIEVED IN MONOBUOYS
The major advantage of the Single Anchor Leg Mooring (SALM) systems is its resistance to hurricane action, a most serious threat to offshore installations in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Area. The SALM mooring buoy can be completely submerged by violent wave action without damage, and its crude-handling unit is firmly anchored to the sea bottom, free from the danger of tanker collision.
