ARAMCO BUILDS MARINE TERMINAL AT JUAYMAH

Arbian American Oil Co. will build a third marine terminal in Saudi Arabia at Juaymah, about 15 miles northwest of the main loading terminal at Ras Tanura. Initially, one single-buoy mooring (SBM) will accommodate tankers with a maximum draft of 90 ft, and a second SBM will be for ships drawing up to 95 ft. The two SBMs will be linked by underwater pipelines to a two-deck metering and control platform 37,000 ft from shore in 45 ft of water. Later, more SBMs will be tied to the same platform, and additional lines from shore will provide for delivery of a number of grades of crude. Shore installations will include three 1.25 million bbl crude storage tanks, a 250,000 bbl bunker fuel tank, and a small harbor for mooring launches and personnel craft.
