HOT RECYCLING OF BITUMINOUS MIXTURES ACCORDING TO THE RENOFALT-PROCESS (II)

WARME REGENERATIE VAN ASFALT VOLGENS HET RENOFALT-PROCEDE (II)

It is pointed out that on the basis of test results of the recycled asphaltic concrete the maximum percent voids filled with bitumen of 75% was introduced in order to ensure resistance against rutting. Beforehand an inventory of the old asphaltic concrete and sampling of the material must be carried out. Also beforehand the quantity of rejuvenating agent required must be determined. A detailed survey of energy consumption for the whole recycling process and a detailed description of the energy content of both recycled asphaltic concrete and ordinary asphaltic concrete is given. It is concluded that the renofalt-process lowers the cost for pavement construction by about 10 to 15%, compared with the cost of pavement construction with ordinary asphaltic concrete.
