SERVICING SBMS (SINGLE BUOY MOORINGS) OFF NIGERIA
Ocean Inchcape Ltd. (OIL) has a five-year contract with Shell-BP Petroleum Development Co. of Negeria Ltd. at Bonny, Nigeria, to service the offshore loading station where export tankers of up to 300,000 dwt load at two SBMs. OIL provides three mooring tugs to assist the tankers in mooring and in bringing oil hoses from the SBM to the tanker, and also provides a crew boat capable of carrying 39 passengers and light stores at a speed of 23 knots. OIL furnishes pilotage and loading master services for the tankers and acts as pilot loading masters. Further, OIL operates an inshore contract for Shell-BP at Bonny handling vessels loading on the conventional Buoy Mooring station, providing three launches to assist this operation.
