MARCONAFLO--APPLICATIONS OF THE SYSTEM TO MINERAL PROCESSING AND EXTRACTION
The Marconaflo slurry system was originally developed to reduce costs and solve technical problems in the marine transport of mineral cargoes. This efficient method of reclaiming and slurrying particulate materials at very high pulp densities can be directly utilised in a wide variety of mineral process systems. Those referred to in this article include: storage-reclaim applications, where even cohesive, compacted materials can be reclaimed from settled storage 'on demand'; the growing number of hydrometallurgical operations wherein slurried materials are processed to extract or yield metals; certain applications associated with pyrometallurgical treatment; and as a means of augmenting the performance of conventional mineral dressing equipment, such as thickeners.
