SCIENTIFIC ASPECTS OF THE OIL SPILL PROBLEM

The annual oil influx to the ocean lies between 5 and 10 million tons. The paper discusses the sources and the environmental and public health hazard of oil pollution and suggests that the presently available countermeasures are inadequate to deal with this threat. (Author)
