MAJOR SAVINGS CLAIMED FOR NEW PIPELINE HEATING SYSTEM

Liqui-Flow Heating Systems has developed a system for handling viscous liquids, which operates by a direct radiation principle that applies the proper amount of heat at the required location. The ferromagnetic material of the vessel or pipeline is used as the conductor and heat source, and electrical energy is injected and expended at specific points in the system. Low voltages eliminate the possibility of electric shocks to personnel. The system can heat unlimited lengths of pipe, can be used underground and underwater, can be adapted to existing lines with minimal disturbance, gives an improved plant load factor, has small electrical consumption, allows bulk storage tanks to be maintained at the product pour point, allows improved stock control, and allows centrifugal pumps to be substituted for positive displacement pumps. The system offers up to 20% savings over traditional heat transfer devices.
