VEHICLE ROAD TESTINGS OF BRAKE LININGS--PRESENT STATUS IN JAPAN
Various methods to evaluate lining characteristics by road test, both governmental and industrial, are reviewed. Japanese Automobile Standards (JASO) are established covering wide range of tests. This standard is widely accepted by vehicle manufacturers, but still there are items not defined in this standard, and some of the manufacturers like to modify the standard for various reasons. It is intended that JASO will cover all aspects of road test procedure and be adopted by all Japanese manufacturers. We hope further that this standard will serve for the rationalization and harmonization of international standards like ISO and various regulations like ECE, FMVSS, Japanese Regulations, etc.
