TRANSPORTING SOLID MATERIALS IN PIPELINES
In this article, the first of a three part series, the advantages of pipelining solids are discussed and various applications are described. Basic concepts of general hydraulic transport and engineering problems of plant design are reviewed. The flow peculiarities for homogeneous and heterogeneous mixtures are described and equations for determining the settling velocity and drag coefficient is provided for heterogeneous mixtures.
