DUST BOOT
It would seem that installing caliper dust boots is a straightforward operation. However, the real world situation is that a lot of dust boots are not properly installed, and many calipers go back into service with boots that are unseated. The dust boot may not seem like a critical item, but unless it is correctly seated all around and in good condition (no cuts), dirt and moisture can get into the piston bore. This article deals with dust boot replacement with the three basic types of dust boots, the integral ring type, the external ring type and the groove lip boot.
