13-LINE CHANNEL CROSSING LAID WITHIN 10-HOUR LIMIT
Thirteen pipelines from 3-18 in. were installed in a group in 39 ft of water across Japan's Ogishima Channel by Nippon Kokan K.K. The waterway averages in excess of 2000 vessels/day, and the Maritime Safety Agency ruled that the installation must be conducted at night within a 10-hour time limit. Line construction and launching operations are described.
