PLANT FOR BITUMINOUS PAVEMENTS

MATERIEL POUR CHAUSSEES BITUMINEUSES

This article describes and illustrates mixer-drier and batch mixing plant and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the two types of equipment from the points of view of purchase and operating costs, fuel consumption, pollution, mobility and productivity (new and recycled materials). Some general precautions are suggested with regard to mixing procedures, and the laying, compaction and finishing of bituminous pavements. (TRRL)
