A survey of the current world-wide status of slurry pipelines covers situations for which slurry lines are especially suited, and a comparison of transportation costs for slurry pipelines, unit trains, truck, and conveyor belt; tabulation and discussion of slurry lines constructed, under construction, or planned; non-Newtonian flow behavior of slurries; critical velocity for slurry formation; pilot-scale tests; corrosion-erosion; use of positive-displacement pumps; construction; operation; and potential future projects for handling coal, phosphate, iron concentrates, potash, or urban wastes.
