HOW JAPANESE LAID THREE 48-INCH LINES OFF ANEGASAKI, ICHIHARA

Yawata Iron and Steel Co. used a new lay barge, the "Yushima Maru", 240 ft by 64 ft by 14 ft, equipped with four 75 kva units, a 15 ton revolving crane, and two 20 ton hoist cranes, and accommodating 60 people. Construction of part of the lines by the lay barge method and part by the flotation method is described, as well as the trenching operation and the construction of the sea berth riser.
