NEW TRENDS IN SOLIDS PIPELINES
This article first considers the pros and cons of pipelining solids, followed by a brief review of the main flow laws for various types of slurries, with special attention given to the factors either affecting the economy of the process or limiting its scope. A series of actual installations are then examined covering a wide variety of applications: e.g. coal, transport of tailings from coal mines, disposal of nickel slag, transport of uranium ore, transport of salt using a brine solution as the medium and movement of radioactive materials in containers or capsules.
