MEASUREMENT OF VERTICAL ACCELERATION ON THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND THE PASSENGER SEAT IN BUSES WHEN PASSING OVER A ROAD HUMP

Measurements were made in order to compare the vertical accelerations on the driver's seat and on the passenger's seat in three types of buses when passing over two road humps. The length of the humps was 14.4 M and 21.6 M respectively and the buses passed at different speeds. Results show that the three buses can pass over the short hump at a maximum speed of 40 km/h and the long one at 50 km/h without exposing the driver and passengers to vertical accelerations exceeding 5 m/s2.
