LT GOES ALL-ALUMINIUM AS 1983 TUBE STOCK IS DELIVERED
London Transport is taking delivery of new rapid transit cars for its tube lines which will permit the retirement of the last pre-World War II equipment--also the only cars with steel bodies. The 1983 equipment was developed from 1973 models with changes in cab design, extra passenger seats, ventilation, lighting, and in truck design. The cars have camcontrolled traction power; LT's next equipment will feature choppers.
