DEVELOPMENT OF LNG PIPELINE TECHNOLOGY
A survey covers the potential advantages of LNG transmission; added costs for liquefaction and for low temperature alloys materials; problems of design criteria such as crack initiation, crack propagation, degree of subcooling of LNG, design temperature, and the thermal contraction; recent developments concerning the critical stress intensity factor, the desirable operating temperature, and the most suitable alloys and insulating materials; and research and development needs for design and construction of a full-scale pipeline.
