INTRODUCTION OF ELECTRIC BUSES IN THE CITY OF MALMO PRESTUDY
FOERSTUDIE FOER INFOERANDE AV ELDRIFT I KOLLEKTIVTRAFIKEN I MALMOE
The aim of this project is to investigate the possibility of introducing trolleybuses in the city of Malmo. It is planned to introduce these buses on 9 of the 20 routes, comprising 108 km of wires and 72% of the total vehicle mileage. Main system, electricity supply, operation, choice of routes, administration, etc, are discussed. The bus described in this report is a Scania CR 112 equipped with a thyristor regulated power unit. It also has a battery which makes it possible to turn off up to 5km from the route at a maximum speed of 30 km/h. Cost comparisons between buses with diesel engines and trolleybuses are presented. The experiences and use of electric buses, eg trolley-, battery and hybrid buses, in other countries are also dealt with.
