THE USE OF HIGH RELIABILITY TECHNIQUES IN OFFSHORE CONTROL SYSTEMS
The reliability aspects of design philosophy involve protective and fail-safe provisions as well as use of components at far less than rated capacity for power dissipation, power levels, and voltage stress. Components must be pre-tested under worse-than-actual operating conditions. Twenty-year lifetimes can be assured with minimal chance of failure with presently available techniques.
