PIPELINE NEWSLETTER/KAISER STUDIES COAL PIPELINE IN BRITISH COLUMBIA

Kaiser Resources Ltd. has signed a joint venture research agreement with Consolidation Coal Co., who built the first coas pipeline in the U.S., for studying the feasibility of a slurry pipeline to transport coking coal from Sparwood, B.C., to Roberts Bank, where the coke would be loaded on a ship destined for Japan. The 75% owned subsidiary of Kaiser Steel Corp. expects the first phases of the research to take 4-6 months; if the initial results are encouraging, the next stages would take one or two years more. If the studies prove the feasibility of the pipeline, several additional years would be required before the project becomes a reality.
