MAINTENANCE OF SIGNALLING AND TELECOMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT
The profitability of signalling and telecommunication equipment depends to a decisive degree on the time between failures and the duration of failure. Upon these two factors depends the safety of the system, especially the signalling. The aim is to evaluate the operational quality in relation to the cost of maintenance and to optimate it wherever possible. In this it is essential to give critical consideration to such influencing factors as late running, maintenance organization, training of personnel, intervals between maintenance, extent of periodical work, maintenance regulations, stocking of spare parts, use of work cars, fault monitoring and reporting systems, use of standard modular units and standard systems, and to seek constant improvement thereof.
