DEVELOPMENT OF THE NEXT GENERATION OF DIESEL MULTIPLE-UNITS FOR BR
Since 1974 British Railways' evaluation of new designs of diesel sets for local services has embraced a concept embodying Leyland bus bodies modified to meet UIC/BR proof-loading and mounted on a simple two-axle underframe developed from the "HSFV" wagon underframe, and following three prototypes undergoing service trials, the Series 141 twin-car version now follows, and for which an order on BREL for 20 sets has been authorised.
