A STUDY OF VISCOELASTIC FLUID FLOW--3. TURBULENT FLOW OF A NON-NEWTONIAN LIQUID IN A CIRCULAR PIPE
A hydrodynamical equation is used to obtain the shearing stress at the wall as a function of the mean rate of shearing flow and of the mean normal stress parallel to the axis of the tube. Proportionality is assumed between shearing stress and a power of the shearing rate of flow, and Weissenberg's relations are used between the different stress components. A method for obtaining the elastic modulus of a liquid by means of a rheogoniometer is also discussed.
