A PEDESTRIANWAY PLAN FOR DOWNTOWN CHICAGO
This report describes the recommendations for development of a pedestrianway network throughout the Chicago Central Business District that would: 1) link together major pedestrian traffic generators, existing transportation facilities, and existing pedestrianway segments; 2) provide for the separation of pedestrians and vehicles; and 3) provide weatner protected walkways throughout the CBD. The recommendations are based on an evaluation of the CBD pedestrian environment and patterns of movement. This document identifies and ranks Pedestrianway System Segments according to a wide range of criteria including usage, accessibility, and existing circulation problems. This priority listing provides a programming sequence of capital improvement projects related to the pedestrianway network in the Chicago CBD.
