SHELL TO PIPE SULFUR IN LIQUID HYDROCARBON

In a recent talk at Calgary, J.G. Bruce, project manager of the Solids Pipeline Research & Development Association, also stated that pipeline capsules can move more tons of solid per ton of carrier but that both solid and slurry will have their place because of a forecast short-term increase of 700% in bulk commodity export shipments from Canada. Experiments in Edmonton with steel capsules in the fall of 1967 resulted in quite a bit of sticking and difficulties in dislodging the stuck capsules. The pipeline will be more likely to supplement than displace railway transportation of bulk materials.
