CHEAPER BY PIPE

Work on capsule pipelining, a process developed by the Research Council of Alberta by which solids are encapsulated in aluminum or plastic shells which are then transported by pipeline, will henceforward by carried on at the new Institute for Pipeline Research, at Calgary, to which the work is now being transferred from Edmonton. The process is regarded as fully proved, although not yet utilized commercially. Probable capsule pipeline transport costs are expected to be intermediate between rail and oil pipeline transport costs.
