A description of the first LNG/LPG carrier to employ a spherical tank gas containment system is presented. The tanks are made of nine percent nickel steel plate, and the tank supports, insulation, and advantages of utilizing a geometric shape in the construction of the pressure tanks are all described and discussed. The cargo pumping system and cooling down procedure, including purging the tanks with inert gas prior to cooling, are also described. The cargo control room, propulsion machinery, and electrical power systems are also discussed in the article.
