MARINE BOILER DEVELOPMENT WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE REHEAT BOILER
A review of the trend of recent developments with merchant marine boilers is described, and future prospects are also briefly commented upon. The development of boilers is considered in four directions: capacity, performance, reliability, and automation. The results of such developments were concentrated in the realization of reheat boilers, one of the main features of which is the so-called three path system, with damper control for controlling superheat and reheat steam temperatures. The reheat boilers are described, with the protection system, temperature control system, dampers, and other elements included in the description. Future trends toward higher reliability and simpler operation are also explained.
