EXPLORING THE IMPACT OF COVID-19 ON GROCERY SHOPPING BEHAVIOUR IN MALAYSIA AND AUSTRIA

A comprehensive understanding of the pandemic impact on daily behavioural patterns of travellers' movement is crucial in creating safe and comfortable living environments. Since the Covid-19 pandemic has affected many countries in the world, many countries have taken unusual steps of partial or full lockdowns. Online options have been introduced and e-commerce businesses become a spotlight. While grocery shopping is an essential activity, not much is known about the relationship of the pandemic to the behaviour of grocery shoppers. Therefore, the study is designed as an effort to understand the shopping behaviour of people affected by Covid-19 pandemic in Malaysia and to the extent of Austria. An online survey to determine the shopping behaviour impact was used as a data collection strategy. Analysis of the collected data reveals changes in various aspects of shopping behaviour in Malaysia and Austria. The authors conclude that there is growing trend of online shopping in both countries especially Malaysia.
